In 2020 the World Expo will be held in Dubai. It is the first time ever the World Expo is held in the MENA region and the United Arab Emirates Government estimates some 25 million visitors to the Expo with over 70% international visitors. The Expo has three themes: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

The UAE Government has also decided on the UAE Energy Plan 2050, aimed at cutting CO2 emissions by 70%, increasing the use of clean energies by 50% (renewables and nuclear) and improving energy efficiency by 40% by 2050. The UAE plans to invest AED 600m by 2050 to boost the integration of renewable, nuclear and clean fossil energy.
All of this makes the UAE a highly interesting place to be, especially for small and medium sized corporations in the broad sustainability area. The Emirati - Swedish Business Council will focus on tailoring the best possible set of activities aimed at making business out of Swedish/Nordic inventions in this area.
